Experience the best of Central Thailand by starting off your first morning at a floating market, before moving on to the Rose Garden’s Thai Village. Then head off to Kanchanaburi and the Bridge over the River Kwai before a drive to historic Ayutthaya and the Bang Pa-In Palace.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Bangkok-Damnoen Saduak Floating Market-Rose Garden
An early start takes you to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market with vendors on boats in canals. Then a drive delivers you to Nakhon Pathom and the Phra Pathom Chedi, one of the larges stupas in the world. Next is the lively Don Wai market on the Ta Chin River, before boarding a wooden barge for a cruise to the Rose Garden Riverside Resort and an afternoon exploring the Thai Village. (L)

 

Day 2:

Rose Garden-Kanchanaburi
Drive to Kanchanaburi and stop at the legendary Bridge over the River Kwai. Board a local train in Takilen for an exciting ride on the Death Railway, before transferring to your hotel to spend the afternoon at your leisure. (B)

 

Day 3:

Kanchanaburi-Ayutthaya
Visit the Railway Museum, dedicated to the history of the Burma-Thailand Railway, and the war cemetery. Then drive to Ayutthaya, Siam’s former capital, and visit the ancient temples of Phra Sri Sanphet, Chai Wattanaram and Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, along with other historic sites of the ancient Ayutthaya Kingdom (1350-1768 AD). Day 4:

Ayutthaya-Bang Pa-In-Bangkok
You can awaken early for a 6:00 a.m. visit to the market for fresh food to offer as alms to the monks. (Optional) After breakfast, a 40-minute boat ride lands in Bang Pa-In and the Royal Summer Palace. Then a coach transfers you to the Bangkok airport for your next flight or your hotel. (B)
