Day 1:
|

Bangkok-Khao Yai National Park
You’ll drive to Nakhon Ratchasima to visit the incredible Khmer temple ruins at Phimai Historical Park. After lunch, you’ll experience Thailand’s outdoors at its best at Khao Yai National Park, the nation’s oldest nature and wildlife sanctuary. You’ll spend the night at a resort within the preserve. Day 2:

Khao Yai National Park-Phitsanulok
Continue exploring Khao Yai before heading to Saraburi, where you’ll stop at the Phra Buddha Baht shrine to behold the holy footprint of the Lord Buddha. Lop Buri is next to explore temples, ruins and a splendid local museum. Then it’s on to Phitsanulok for an overnight stay. (B, L, D)

Day 3:

Phitsanulok-Sukhothai-Lampang
The morning starts with a visit to the ancient ruins of Sukhothai, a museum and Sri Satchanalai. You’ll have lunch en route at a local restaurant, then a stop at a hilltribe village. The afternoon ends at the quaint city of Lampang and your accommodation for the night. (B, L, D)

Day 4:

Lampang-Chiang Mai
After checking out, you’ll visit Wat Phathat Lampang Luang, then stop in Lamphun to see the Haripoonchai Temple. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll go to the Home Industries at Bo Sang and San Kamphaeng, a centre for the cotton industry, local goods, antiques from Burma, hilltribe handicrafts, hand woven silk and woodcarvings. After shopping, you’ll head to Chiang Mai and your hotel and dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 5:

Chiang Mai
Drive to well-known mountain-top Doi Suthep Temple in the morning for a great panoramic view of Chiang Mai and the lush mountains and valleys that surround it. You’ll have the afternoon at your leisure to explore Chiang Mai. A traditional Khantok dinner caps your day, along with a cultural performance by hilltribe musicians and dancers. (B, L, D)

Day 6:

Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai
You’re off to an elephant training camp to watch pachyderms toil away in the jungle. Continue to Pha-Tai, where you’ll climb into a longtail boat for an unforgettable journey down the Mae Kok River, past tiny hilltribe villages, to Chiang Rai. (B, L, D)

Day 7:

Chiang Rai-Bangkok
Begin the morning with a hilltribe visit in Mae Chan, then travel to a small trading post at Mae Sai. You’ll continue to the famed Golden Triangle, the junction of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, have lunch, then head to the historical city of Chiang Saen before going to the Chiang Rai Airport for your flight to Bangkok and hotel transfer.
