Kick off your three-day tour with a trip to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, before an overnight stay at Khao Yai National Park. Korat comes next, with its 1,000-year-old Khmer hilltop temples. Then it’s off to Surin near the Cambodian border. The final day delivers you to Ubon, home of the five-pagoda Khmer monument and Pha Taem’s prehistoric paintings.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Bangkok-Ayutthaya-Khao Yai
Travel to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya to see its renowned historic ruins and religious monuments. Then you’re off to the natural beauty in the forested hills of the 542,000-acre Khao Yai National Park for an overnight stay. (L, D)

 

Day 2:

Khao Yai-Korat-Surin
A drive delivers you to Korat in the Northeast, and a visit to Dan Kwian village to see its popular pottery. After lunch, you’ll head to the 1,000-year-old hilltop Khmer temples of Khao Phanom Rung and Prasat Muang Tam. You’ll continue to the Cambodian border province of Surin for dinner and a night’s accommodation. (B, L, D)

 

Day 3:

Surin-Ubon-Bangkok
After arriving at Ubon, you’ll visit the magnificent five-pagoda Khmer monument of Prasat Sikhoraphum. After lunch at the junction of the Mekong and Moon Rivers, you’ll travel to Pha Taem and see its amazing prehistoric paintings. Then you’re off to the Ubon Airport for the flight to Bangkok and hotel transfer. (B, L)
