Bangkok is affectionately known as the Venice of the East....a city of over 6 million people, built almost entirely over water. The intricate web of canals connects the city with the main river channel, the famous Chayo Praya River that flows to south to the Gulf of Thailand.
Take a river taxi or ferry to visit some of Bangkok's highlights such as Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn and go exploring by long-tail boat down the 'back street' canals to see how the locals live. You can also take a ferry or boat to visit the Floating Markets and the Asiatique Night Bazaar.
There are also a number of river boat operators that offer leisurely river cruises to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya or there are many options for a romantic dinner cruise offer by the riverside hotels such as the Royal Orchid Sheraton, Shangrila and The Peninsula.
