It wasn’t just Arsenal and Manchester City that were centre stage on February 25 at the final of the Carabao Cup; Thai Airways (THAI), an official sponsor of the event, also played a prominent role.
Two THAI mascots and six flight attendants were present at the Wembley Activation Area and along Wembley Boulevard where there was also a THAI-branded caravan inside which a photo booth allowed fans to take photos of themselves against a THAI Business Class seat background. Two thousand THAI branded cardboard clappers were also given away to the fans at Wembley.
Strategic partnerships like this with Thai Airways, which was recently named by Skytrax as the World's Best Economy Class Airliner for 2017, are part of a wider effort by the EFL to better engage with fans in Asia and strengthen the profile of the English Football League across the world.
The new partnership will enable Thai Airways to engage with football fans at home and abroad by developing a strong association with some of the biggest events in the football calendar and thus continue its growth in profile in this major niche marketplace.
Mrs. Usanee Saengsingkeo said, “We are delighted to play a major part in this great event by sponsoring the EFL. We see this partnership as a wonderful opportunity to engage our brand with football fans at home and abroad. With our double-daily-non-stop between London and Bangkok, we can ensure them with the smoothest way to Asia and Australasia.”
THAI provided ten pairs of general admission tickets for the Carabao Cup Final and will be giving away a total of 100 tickets across the five EFL finals through their own social media platforms and website. Ten pairs of tickets will be provided for each of the following: Checkatrade Final on April 18, Sky Bet Championship Play-off Final on May 26, Sky Bet League One Play-off Final on May 27 and the Sky Bet League Two Play-off Final on May 28.
