Pets as Checked Baggage (AVIH) 

 

This service will allow passengers to check-in and collect their pet at the passenger terminals of their flight’s departure and arrival airports. The pet will be loaded in an aircraft hold just beneath the passenger cabin where it will be safe and in a temperature controlled environment. Flight to/from USA the maximum weight/dimension of pet including the container is 32kgs and dimensions 54 inches length, 27 inches height, 33 inches wide. Charges: Please contact local offices

 

Embargo Of Snub-nosed And Other Dog Breeds

 

Because of their anatomical abnormalities, snub-nosed and other dog breeds are more vulnerable to changes in air quality and temperature.

Snub-nosed and other dog breeds, so-called Brach cephalic breeds, are suffered respiratory problems under normal circumstances, not just during air travel as their respiratory conditions worsen when flying at high altitudes in cargo holds.

They are more likely to die on airplanes or at sorting area where temperatures can be very hot or too cold.

 

For the safety of this special kind of pet, effective from 01 October 2016 onwards TG will ban the following 25 dog breeds from acceptance as either checked baggage cargo (For cargo acceptance, please contact directly to Cargo Department

on Information of the new standards importing quarantine of dogs and cats (Effect on 1DEC12)

As a new regulation will put in force on importing cats and dog into Korea effective from 01Dec 2012, required documents for pet transportation will be changed as below:

Cats and dogs are the only types of pets accepted for travel on Thai Airways. Other animals can be transported only as cargo at the Cargo Terminal.

Pets can be transported as checked baggage

Cats and dogs are the only types of pets accepted for travel on Thai Airways. Other animals can be transported only as cargo at the Cargo Terminal.
If you transport your cats and/or dogs to Dubai (DXB), Australia, Hong Kong or the UK, you can only transport them as cargo.
Please check on the different pet travel regulations and procedures for each country and the required documents such as the quarantine, medical, and rabies

EFFECTIVE 26AUG13 FROM AND ONWARDS PET IN CABIN (PETC) IS PROHIBITED
TO BE ACCEPT IN ALL THAI FLIGHTS. EXCEPTION IS ONLY RESERVED TO FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

 

1. ESCORT DOG TO ASSIST BLIND PASSENGER OR DEAF PASSENGER.THE RULES APPLY TO ALL TG FLIGHTS WITH FREE OF CHARGE.

2. SERVICE/ASSISTANCE DOGS (RECOGNIZED SERVICE DOG)TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO DISABLED.


 IT S RECOMMENDED THAT ALL SERVICE DOGS WEAR A HARNESS. IF THE FLIGHT IS OVER 8 HOURS LONG, TG MAY REQUIRE DOCUMENTATION SHOWING 
 THAT SUCH SERVICE DOG WILL NOT NEED TO RELEIVE ITSELF ON BOARD OR THAT THE DOG ITSELF IN SUCH A WAY THAT DOES NOT CAUSE SANITATION

ISSUES OR OTHER HAZARD TO OTHER PASSENGER. PASSENGER SUCH AS DOG DETECT SEIZURE ALERT, HEART CONDITION UNDER CONTROL OF 
MEDICINES,DIABETES ETC. THE RULES APPLY TO FLIGHTS OPERATING TO/FROM EUROPE UNDER EU LAW AND FLIGHTS OPERATING TO/FROM

LAX UNDER US DOT (14CFR382) WITH FREE OF CHARGE

 

3. EMOTIONAL SUPPORT/PSYCHIATRIC SERVICE DOGS TO COMFORT THE DISABLED (UNDER THE US DOT 14CFR382) PASSENGER SUFFERS FOR

MENTAL DISABILITY( MITIGATES THE EMOTIONAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL SYMPTOMS ). THIS RULE APPLIES FOR TG FLIGHT BKK-LAX VV ONLY.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION


AN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT/PSYCHIATRIC SERVICE DOG MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY DOCUMENTION FROM A LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
STATING THE FOLLOWING:

-THE PASSENGER HAS AN EMOTIONAL MENTAL HEALTH RELATED DISABILITY AND HAVING THE DOG ON THE AIRCRAFT IS NECESSARY.

-THE DOCUMENTATION MAY NOT BE MORE THAN 1 YEAR.


4. DOGS FALL INTO ABOVE CONDITION WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT CAGE OR CONTAINER

5. ALL ABOVE CATEGORIES MUST BE REFERED TO THE TRANSIT/DESTINATION RULES AND REGULATION TO CARRY DOGS PASSING/INTO EACH COUNTRIES.

Cage Requirements

The cage must be constructed of strong materials such as metal

- The cage must be large enough for the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural manner.
- The cage must have ventilation and must be water-proof.

HOW TO MAKE ARRANGEMENT FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF YOUR PETS

- You can make arrangements with Thai Airways up until 3 working days before the scheduled departure time. (Some regions, including, BENGALURU may be excluded.)
- You must also report the microchip number of your pet for those regions where the implant of a microchip is required.

 

- A rabies vaccination must be administered a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 1 year before the scheduled departure time

Please fax all the necessary information, namely the cage size, the weight of the cage including your pet's weight, your reservation number(ticket number) as well as the vaccination certificate and medical certificate, to the Thai Airways Reservation Department at 82-2-755-5251.

Please call us at 82-2-3707-0011 to see if the fax went through.
If you don't confirm the reservation by phone, your reservation may be canceled. You may also contact your travel agent.


Call the Reservations Department to see if your reservation was approved.
(You may be denied boarding at the airport if your reservation was not approved.) 


 

Procedures at the airport

- Submit the rabies vaccination certificate and the medical certificate to the Animal Quarantine Office at your departure airport, and then they will issue you with a
quarantine certificate.

Quarantine Office at Gimhae International Airport: Location - Room No. 2542 on the 1st floor in the International Flight Terminal, Tel. 82-51-971-4991
- When you check in, present the quarantine certificate at the check-in counter.
- When you arrive at the destination airport, a quarantine inspection will be conducted for your pet.
During the quarantine inspection, it will be necessary to present the rabies vaccination certificate, medical certificate.

 


Traveling with Guide Dog or Assistance Dogs

Travelling with Guide Dog or Assistance Dogs 

 

THAI can accept guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs for the deaf in the cabin to some destinations. Passengers must ensure that all animal quarantine regulations and documentations for the entry/transit are provided. This service will be carried without charge. Please contact THAI local office at least 48 hours in advance of flight departure. The dog will not occupy a seat and will be located next to you but not at the emergency exit row. The dog must be harnessed during the flight. Flight to/from USA should a passenger with disability has to carry his/her guide dog/assistance dog or emotional support dog
