Award Conditions

The following conditions apply to Award travel on THAI, Star Alliance and Partner airlines.

For online Award redemption miles are deducted from your account after the Award transaction is completed.

For Awards issued by THAI office, miles are deducted from your account within 3 working days of obtaining confirmation of Award reservations or before ticket issue, whichever comes first.

If Award tickets are not issued within the ticket time limit, you must contact THAI for mileage credit. Any expired miles cannot be re-credited.

Award tickets must be issued to members, or to others who present written authorization for ticket pick-up.

Prior to ticket issue, you may change Award travel flight dates, or routing provided Award travel remains in the same zone. The Award recipient names are subject to Award transfer conditions.

All other changes require mileage to be re-credited to your account and new reservations requested. Allow 3 working days for mileage re-credit.

After Award tickets within Thailand are issued you may change travel dates or flight numbers, change to another domestic destination or re-credit the Award which are subject to service fees. Domestic tickets are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

International Award tickets are valid for 1 year from the date of issue, and once issued you may change travel dates or your flight number with a service fee. Any other changes require mileage to be re-credited, subject to service fees, and new reservations being requested.

Once travel has commenced no routing changes or mileage re-credits are permitted. Totally unused and valid international Award tickets may be returned for a mileage re-credit, subject to service fees.

All applicable taxes and surcharges are the responsibility of the Award ticket holder.

Terms & Conditions of  Awards

THAI Award Changes and Validity

  • Award travel, both international and domestic, must be completed within 1 year of the ticket issue date.
  • Prior to ticket issue: flight dates, routing (provided Award travel remains in the same zone),  can be changed.
  • All other changes require mileage to be re-credited and a new Award requested. Allow 3 working days for mileage to be re-credited.
  • After ticketing, travel dates or flight numbers for domestic travel can be changed with fee THB 500 / USD $16.00
  • Tickets can be recredited with a fee of THB 1,800 / USD $60.00
  • For international travel, only flight dates or numbers can be changed, with a fee. No other changes are permitted, but mileage can be re-credited subject to a service fee of THB 3,750 / USD $125.00 for reginal routes THB 5700 / USD $190 for intercontinental routes, and a new Award requested. Routing changes or mileage re-credit after travel has commenced is not permitted. Totally unused and valid international Award tickets can be re-credited, subject to payment of the above fees.
  • For an Award re-credit, any expired miles contained in the Award will not be re-credited.


THAI Award Travel Conditions

  • THAI only may issue Award tickets. All Award travel within Thailand is e-ticketed, paper tickets are no longer issued.
  • No stopovers or connecting flights are permitted for Award travel within Thailand.
  • International Award travel within zones 1-6 allows one stopover in each direction between origin and destination without fees.
  • One open jaw at point of turnaround or origin, within the same country, is also allowed without fees. Backtracking is not permitted.
  • International Award to/from a destination in Thailand that requires a flight connection must be on the first available flight, for example: London-Chiang Mai via Bangkok. However one stopover during the Award journey is permitted subject to a service fee of THB 2,850 / USD $95.00.
  • Backtracking is only permitted on intercontinental Award travel. Stopovers when backtracking, for example Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok-Sydney, are subject to a service fee of THB 2,850 / USD $95.00, with a maximum of 2 stopovers, and 1 stopover in each direction.
  • An onward connecting flight within 24 hours is not considered a stopover.
  • All taxes and surcharges associated with Award travel are the responsibility of the member or ticket holder and may be collected at ticket issue or during the Award journey.

Star Alliance Award Travel Conditions

  • Star Alliance Awards are applicable for Award travel on one Star Alliance airline, excluding THAI, or on two or more Star Alliance airlines, which may include THAI.
  • Award travel is valid on Star Alliance operated flights only.
  • Awards are for round-trip travel on the most direct route possible, and must return to the country of origin.
  • One enroute stopover in each direction is permitted per Award journey. One open jaw at point of turnaround or origin is also permitted per Award journey.
  • No stopover is permitted in the country of origin. No stopover is permitted on pure domestic travel.
  • Backtracking is only permitted as required by the Star Alliance network. Stopovers are not permitted when backtracking.
  • Mixing classes of service for Award travel is not permitted.
  • First Class Award travel may not be available on all sectors due to aircraft operations. However, First Class Award redemption will be applied to the entire Award journey.
  • All taxes associated with Award travel are the responsibility of the member, and may be collected at the Award ticket issue location, or during the Award journey.
  • Change of carrier not permitted after ticket issue.
  • After ticketing a fee of THB 2,850 / USD $95.00 is applied for reservation changes.
  • Star Alliance Award ticket validity and conditions are subject to Royal Orchid Plus Award rules

Star Alliance Round the World Travel Conditions

  • Round The World Award travel is valid on all Star Alliance operated flights.
  • Award travel must be on a continuous westbound/eastbound direction and return to the country where travel originated.
  • Award travel is valid for a minimum of 10 days and maximum of 1 year from the date travel commences.
  • Maximum 10 stopovers and minimum 3 stopovers allowed per round-trip journey.
  • One single open jaw is permitted in addition to allowable stopovers.
  • One stopover only is permitted in any one city.
  • Two stopovers only are permitted in any one country.
  • No stopovers in country of origin.
  • Backtracking is only permitted as required by the Star Alliance network.
  • Side trips require an additional Award.
  • Connections must be on the first available flight within 24 hours when required by routing and are not considered stopovers.
  • No mileage re-credit in part or whole permitted after travel commences.
  • All taxes associated with Award travel are the responsibility of the member, and may be collected at the Award ticket issue location, or during the Award journey.
  • Royal Orchid Plus Award eligibility and other conditions, excluding the conditions stated above, apply to Star Alliance Round the World Award travel.
  • Participating hotels may opt-out of the Hotel Award program without prior notice. THAI accepts no responsibility if a hotel no longer participates in the Hotel Award program.
  • Original Certificates only are accepted at check-in, and a correct and valid Certificate must be presented for payment.
  • Hotel Award Certificates are valid for 1 year from the date of issue and the Award stay must be completed within the stated validity period.
  • Any changes to valid issued Award Certificates require the Certificate to be returned to Royal Orchid Plus. The Award is then re-credited, less any expiring miles, subject to payment of a service fee.
  • Lost or stolen Certificates cannot be replaced under any circumstance.
  • Royal Orchid Plus is not responsible in the event of Certificate postal delivery failure.
  • THAI SHOP redemption is available for all Royal Orchid Plus members and/or their nominees.
  • Redemption must be requested by the account owner only
  • Members are required to present the proof of documents (Royal Orchid Plus member Card, Passport or ID Card). If member is unable to present themselves, the following complete documentation is required : A photocopy of Royal Orchid Plus member card, passport or ID card including document that must have complete details of the redeem award along with member’s signature to authorize the redemption from their Royal Orchid Plus account, and a letter of authorization.
  • Mileage re-credit is not permitted and cannot be exchanged for cash, other awards or any other form of payment.
  • Redemption is only available at THAI SHOP located in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
  • THAI reserves the right to change promotion terms and conditions or terminate the awards at any time without prior notice.

 

  • This Redemption Promotion is available for all Royal Orchid Plus members and/or their nominees.
  • Redemption must be requested by the account owner only. If the account owner is unable to personally make the redemption, they must call THAI Catering in order to redeem for the award with sending complete documentation by fax or mail to THAI catering :
  • A photocopy of Royal Orchid Plus member card, passport or ID card including document that must have complete details of the redeem award along with member’s signature to authorize the redemption from their Royal Orchid Plus account.
  • Members are required to present the proof of documents ( Royal Orchid Plus member Card, Passport or ID Card ) for Gourmet Gift Sets and Catering Services pick up. If member is unable to present Themselves, the following complete documentation is required :
  • A photocopy of Royal Orchid Plus member card, passport or ID card including document that must have complete details of the redeem award along with member’s signature to authorize the redemption from their Royal Orchid Plus account. documents, along with letter of authorization is required.
  • On confirmation, miles will be deducted from Member’s account. Mileage recredit is not permitted for THAI Catering Award and cannot be exchanged for cash, other awards or any other form of payment.
  • Miles is for the redemption of Product only. All taxes and surcharges associated with this redemption are the responsibility of the member.
  • THAI will not be responsible for any documents endorsed to others.
  • THAI reserves the right to change promotion terms and conditions or terminate the program at any time without prior notice.


THAI Catering Voucher

  • Redemption of award item is subject to availability and vouchers will be valid for 6 months from date of issue.
  • Award item must be used within the award validity, or else will be forfeited.
  • Award pick-up shall be done within 14 working days after redemption is completed. If the voucher are delivered by post, please allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery.
  • Mileage redemption is available to members residing in Thailand only.
  • Any remaining value of the gift voucher cannot be given in cash.
  • Once redemption has been completed mileage re-credit by member is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • Not responsible for any damage or loss of the voucher.
  • Royal Orchid Plus retains the right to terminate this redemption at any time without prior notice and other terms and conditions of THAI Catering voucher shall be applied.
  • Spa treatment package redemption may change at the beginning or during each calendar year without prior notice. If your preferred spa is no longer participating when you wish to make a booking, kindly choose another spa in the same Award level if possible.
  • Bookings must be made through spa reservation, or in some cases directly with the spa. you will also find periods in which bookings are accepted, and any other information specific to a spa partner. Please note spa award are subject to service availability.
  • Awards are for stipulated treatment menus only.
  • Any applicable taxes and surcharges, additional treatment, spa services or products are subject to payment and are the responsibility of the Award holder.
  • Once redemption has been completed mileage re-credit is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • Spa award must be used within 6 months after award issue date.
  • Royal Orchid Plus reserves the right to change terms and conditions without notification in advance.
  • Spa treatment package redemption may change at the beginning or during each calendar year without prior notice. If your preferred spa is no longer participating when you wish to make a booking, kindly choose another spa in the same Award level if possible.
