THAI Waives Ticket Change Surcharge and Prepares to Assist Passengers with Flight Connections During Suvarnabhumi Airport Runway Repair Partial Closure
In preparation for possible flight delays while a Suvarnabhumi Airport runway will be partially closed for repairs for two months, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) has issued a waiver on the ticket change surcharge and arranged for staff to assist passengers connecting to THAI flights.
Mrs. Usanee Sangsingkeo, THAI Acting President, said that when Suvarnabhumi Airport runway 01R/19L will be partially closed for repairs from 3 March to 2 May 2017, possible flight delays are anticipated on flight take-off and landing. As a passenger convenience, the Company has issued a waiver on the ticket change surcharge for passengers who have flight connections to an onward destination which is operated by THAI during 3 March to 2 May 2017.
The Company has established a center located at the Head Office responsible for coordinating runway repairs in the east part of Survarnabhumi Airport, to monitor movement, to assess impact due to partial runway closure, for further coordination, and to alleviate any possible problems that may arise.
The Company places high importance on safety in its flight operations and on passenger comfort and convenience. As a result, additional consideration will be made to carry additional jet fuel on each flight based on the air traffic conditions and has made plans to use other airports in the country, such as Utapao Airport and airports served by THAI.
