THAI delays A350XWB to Melbourne

Bangkok, 09 September 2016 – Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) today announced that the carrier will delay operating the A350, the newest aircraft type in the THAI fleet, to Melbourne, Australia.

Mr. Charamporn Jotikasthira, THAI President, said that due to additional inspections and requirements from Australian authorities on THAI’s newest aircraft type A350XWB, the approval process is not able to be completed in time for THAI to operate the maiden flight by 16 September 2016.  Previously in 2014, the approval of THAI’s 787-8 Dreamliner was much shorter.  THAI, therefore, need to delay operating the A350XWB to Melbourne until the authorities have completed their approval process.

It is expected that the approval will be completed in time for the Winter Schedule which begins at the end of October.  “In the meantime, THAI will operate the A350 between Bangkok-Chiang Mai and Bangkok-Phuket, which will give passengers in Thailand more opportunities to experience the elegance of the THAI A350.”

THAI continues to operate normal schedule with two flights daily to Melbourne, Australia.
