Upgrade your Star Alliance flight using miles
1. Eligible tickets : Upgrades are available only for paid tickets that have been issued.
2. Eligible users : Members may redeem miles to upgrade travel for themselves or their eligible award nominee(s). The name on the ticket must match that of the member or the eligible nominee.
3. Eligible flights : Upgrade awards apply only to flights operated by Star Alliance partner airlines and must be flights with a three-digit flight number. Upgrades are not available on codeshare flights. Example: Flight LH701 of Lufthansa is eligible for an upgrade award because it is operated by Lufthansa itself. However, flight LH1701 which is a codeshare flight operated by another airline is not eligible for a cabin upgrade award.
4. Eligible cabins and booking classes : Upgrade awards may be redeemed under the following conditions:
- Economy (Y/B) → Business Class
- Business (D/C) → First Class
- Upgrades are permitted only to the next higher cabin
- Upgrades from Economy to some airlines’ Premium Economy are not available at this time*
* Additional airline-specific conditions (Star Alliance Upgrade Awards)
1. Singapore Airlines (SQ)
- Upgrades from Economy to Business are not available on flights offering Premium Economy.
- On flights without Premium Economy, upgrades from Economy to Business are permitted for Y or B only.
2. All Nippon Airways (NH)
- Upgrades from Economy (Y/B/E) to Business are permitted.
3. SWISS (LX)
- Upgrades from Economy (Y/B/M) to Business are permitted.
- Upgrades from Business (J/C) to First are permitted.
4. EVA Air (BR)
Upgrades from Economy (Y/B/K) to Business are permitted.
5. Upgrade award seat availability : Upgrade approvals depend on each airline’s seat availability and the applicable conditions for the operating flight.
6.Number of flights per redemption : Each redemption applies to one international flight segment per transaction.
7. Advance purchase requirement : Upgrade requests must be made at least 24 hours before departure.
8. Service conditions : Upgrade award seats may be limited on certain flights.

- For changes after an upgrade is confirmed, please contact the operating airline directly.
10. Maximum number of passengers : Up to 4 passengers may be upgraded per Booking Reference (PNR), using the required miles per person, per flight.
11. Confirmation and system update : Once confirmed, the upgrade information will be recorded in the flight’s check-in system of the operating airline automatically.
12. Travel cancellation : If travel is cancelled, please contact the Star Alliance member airline that issued the ticket. Miles used for the upgrade will be re-credited into the member’s account, excluding any expired miles.
13. Flight/date changes : To change travel date or flight number, please contact the operating Star Alliance member airline to cancel the existing upgrade award first, then redeem a new upgrade via the website (excluding miles that have already expired). All upgrades remain subject to availability.
14. General conditions : All upgrade awards are subject to the Royal Orchid Plus programme rules and conditions.

Upgrade your THAI flight using miles
Cabin upgrades on THAI are available for paid tickets issued at eligible published fares and only for specified booking classes. The member (or the member’s eligible award nominee) must be a traveller on the same itinerary.

Royal Silk Class (Business Class): C / D / J
Upgrade Award Terms and Conditions
1. Eligible flights : Upgrades are available on international flights operated by THAI only. The flight must carry a TG flight number followed by three digits, and must meet all of the following conditions :
- From Economy to → Royal Silk Class
- From Royal Silk Class to → Royal First Class
All upgrades are subject to seat availability on each flight.
2. How to request an upgrade award : Royal Orchid Plus members may request an upgrade award through:
- THAI Reservation Offices worldwide, after paid ticket issuance
- Please note that upgrade awards cannot be requested for flights departing within 24 hours of ticket issuance.
3. Additional conditions : The following additional conditions apply for Royal Orchid Plus members:
- Each upgrade request applies to one flight segment per transaction.
- Eligibility depends on the purchased booking class and the aircraft seat configuration of the operating flight.
- Upgrades are permitted only to the next higher cabin (no skipping cabins)
- Certain discounted or promotional fares may not be eligible for mileage upgrades
- Miles cannot be earned in the upgraded cabin class
