Curated culinary journey inspired by Khun Chang Khun Phaen at ERR Urban Rustic Thai

Royal Orchid Plus, in collaboration with Royal Orchid Holidays, invites you to step back in time and experience a culinary journey inspired by the Thai literary epic Khun Chang Khun Phaen. The menu reflects the lifestyle and culinary wisdom of the people during the early Rattanakosin era, for example:

Savour:

• Suphanburi-style Fish curry and Bitter greens— spicy and fateful, as turbulent as Phlai Kaeo’s destiny.

• Eel Congee of Nang Sriprajun — a heritage recipe once praised in verse for “restoring strength and vigor.”

• Kaeng Buon — a dish still recorded in the royal archives of King Rama IV, Chula Sakarat 1222, addressed to Uthai Thani.

• Relish of  Mak Maad of Kanchanaburi with Grilled Quail — flavours once found in the forest, now rare and precious.

Elixirs of Faith and Desire:

• “Wat Pa Lelai’s Herbal Elixir” — crafted in the spirit of the master storytellers.

• Aromatic local spirits from Suphanburi and Kanchanaburi — deep, elegant, lingering like the verses themselves.

Enhance the evening further with a curated selection of house-distilled infusions, local rice spirits, and refined drinks reminiscent of the graceful leisure of the era’s genteel society.

Each course includes a curated beverage pairing, with a non-alcoholic pairing option available for guests who prefer not to consume alcohol.

Every dish is enriched with stories, beliefs, culinary craftsmanship, and culture, expressed through the ‘Literary Bourgeois Dining Set,’ curated by Chef Bo (Duangporn Songvisava), who was awarded ‘Asia’s Best Female Chef’ in 2013 for her work and for Bo.lan, her Michelin one-star restaurant.
