#6 Bountiful Bangkok - food glorious food!
Most visitors to Bangok will already be familiar with the world-famous Thai cuisine and have a favourite dish they'll be keen to sample when they arrive in Thailand - Som Tum, Tom Yum Gung, Massaman, Pad Thai or a great green or red curry, of course you'll find them all and in abudance. Although some of these dishes may be toned down for western palattes, you can order by the 'chilli' to get just the heat you need.
As you explore the city, you'll see the locals eating at all hours of the day or night - on the way to work, on the way home, at lunch or for a late night snack, eating with friends is part of the Thai social experience. Some Thai's don't even have a kitchen at home as they do all their dining at street stalls or at local restaurants.
You'll find food stalls, noodle carts, gourmet food halls, restaurants specialising in international cuisine and themed buffets all over the city. Food markets also dot the city and are a great early morning excursion to observe how the locals shop and eat. You'll be amazed by the available selection from fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables to meats and condiments such as sauces, sprinkles, nuts and curry pastes. Ask your hotel concierge for directions to the closest markets or recommended eateries or visit Bangkok.com for their eating guide. Bangkok.com

#12 Bustling Bangkok
It's often said that Bangkok is a city that never sleeps. Well, you won't need to go far to discover life at any hour of the day, no matter where you wander. Traffic congestion during peak hour can be a nightmare despite the very organised travel flows. There just seems to be way too many tuk-tuks, cars, motorbikes, buses and trucks for the available road space. There are over 8 milliion people living in the city and they need to get places. The solution? Plan your travel carefully to avoid traffic chaos; opt for a tuk-tuk or motor bike 'taxi' if you're in a hurry to get across town and of course, there's always the very clean, cool and efficient BTS Skytrain or Underground system that'll get you where you need to be in a jiffy. At a fraction of the cost you'd pay at home.
