  Clothing: Warm, quilted clothing is required during the winter months in the north and central regions. Lightweight fabrics are recommended for the hot and humid summer months in the south. A sweater may be necessary in the evenings and an umbrella during southern monsoon.
  
  Visas and health regulations:
  • Visitors must apply for a tourist visa before arrival. A 30 day visa is usually granted with possible extensions.
  • Vaccination for yellow fever required if arriving within six days from an infected zone.
  
  Language: Mandarin, Cantonese, and a variety of other dialects. Some English is spoken in the larger, east coast cities.
  
  Voltage: 220 volts, 50 Hz (cycles)
  
  Credit cards: Most major cards are accepted in the larger cities. Cards can be used to obtain cash advances at banks and ATM machines in cities.
