Basic Facts

  Clothing: Cambodia’s year-round humid climate means that light clothing is the best choice. In the rainy season a lightweight raincoat or umbrella will be useful.
  
  Visas and health regulations:
  •  Visas can be obtained on arrival at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. A visa cost US$20 and a passport size photograph is needed.
  •  A departure tax of US$25 must be paid in cash at the airport when leaving the country.
  •  No vaccinations required but typhoid, hepatitis A and B, rabies, polio, and tetanus are recommended. African and some South American visitors need yellow fever certificates.
  
  Language: Khmer. Some English is spoken in hotels and tourism services; some older Khmers speak French.
  
  Voltage: 220 volts in Phnom Penh; 110 volts elsewhere.
  
  Credit Cards: Accepted in most hotels and travel agencies.
  
  Business Hours: Government offices and banks: 7:30-12:00 and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
