Thai Airways International Response to COVID-19
In light of the current coronavirus outbreak worldwide and ever-increasing travel restrictions in place.
Thai Airways International (THAI) has had to make a difficult and unprecedented decision to gradually and temporarily suspend operations
We apologise for the disruption and inconvenience this is causing, and we would like to support you by offering the following 3 options to accommodate changes to your travel plans:
1. Ticket validity extension.
2. Travel voucher.
3. Refund for partially used tickets
If you have THAI ticket (ticket number starting with 217-) originally issued before 09 July 2020 for travel on THAI and/or THAI Smile flights (excluding group tickets) where one of your flights in your ticket have been cancelled, you have the following 3 options available to you.
OPTION 1. Extend the validity of fully-unused ticket and rebook later (ticket number starting with 217-) THAI will change the validity of your ticket to 31 January 2021. However, if you do not wish to rebook your flights by 31 January 2021, we will automatically extend the final validity date of the ticket to be 31 December 2021.
When you are ready to rebook, please:
a) contact your travel agent if your original booking was made through one
b) contact your local THAI office if you booked directly with THAI
Notes: All travel must be completed by 31 December 2021 on the same route (s) and the same class of service without the applicable rebooking fee
OPTION 2. Travel Voucher for fully-unused tickets (ticket numbers starting with 217-) If you are holding a Thai Airways ticket, you can request a travel voucher for the equal value of the current ticket.
Please note that if you booked your original ticket through a travel agent in Europe, Australia or New Zealand, you must contact your travel agent for assistance with travel vouchers.
a) The Travel Voucher can be used as credit towards any future travel on THAI or THAI Smile to / from any worldwide destinations.
b) The Travel Voucher will be sent to the email address you provide.
c) The Travel Voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
d) Please contact your local THAI Office to make a new reservation for issue a ticket against the travel voucher before it expires.
e) Fare/tax/surcharge differences may apply to the new itinerary.
f) The travel voucher can be transferred with proof of document presented at time of ticketing.
g) The travel voucher can be refunded if not used at the end of its expiry date
h) For the Award tickets which were redeemed with full amount of miles, or with miles as partial payment (Cash Plus Miles) or whole payment (THAI MAX), they are unable to be replaced with the Travel Voucher.
Option 3 Refund for partially used tickets ticket number starting with 217 If some sectors of on your ticket have been cancelled by THAI and/or THAI Smile, and you have already used part of your ticket, a refund amount will be calculated and settled by issuing office at least 180 days from the submission request.
In case you have a THAI ticket (217-) originally issued before 31 May 2020 for travel on THAI or THAI SMILE flights but your flights have not been cancelled, then any rebooking of date , extension of validity or cancellation of the booking will have to follow the conditions of your ticket with fee to be applied accordingly.
Please note that if you booked your original ticket through a travel agent in Europe, Australia, New Zealand or Japan, you must contact your travel agent for assistance with refunds.
Important Remark : As THAI is currently undergoing rehabilitation proceedings through the Central Bankruptcy Court, the company regrets to inform our customers that it is temporarily prohibited from processing any refund requests at this time. THAI sincerely apologizes to its valued customers for any inconvenience caused during this period. Notwithstanding this, THAI remains committed to extending the utmost attention and care to all customers who have pending ticket refund requests. Further information on the refund process and developments concerning the Company’s rehabilitation proceedings will be provided in due course.
