Indulge in new experiences at iconic Australian landmarks

As Australia welcomes back international travellers, now is the perfect time to plan a visit to the land Down Under, a destination unlike anywhere else on the planet.

Quite a bit has changed whilst international travellers have been away. Iconic landmarks and destinations across the country now offer new experiences and opened doors to new accommodation. So, whether it’s behind the scenes access, brand new openings, or a new way of exploring an icon, there’s plenty of new things to see (and do) at Australia’s famous landmarks.

New South Wales

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge - The globally recognisable Sydney Harbour Bridge, spanning one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world, is now inviting international travellers to conquer the entire breadth of the bridge for the first time in history. Climbers can follow a new route from south to north of the bridge, and back again, covering 3.3 kilometres. It is the biggest innovation to Australia's iconic attraction since it opened in 1998. BridgeClimb Sydney also launched the Burrawa Climb, led by an Indigenous Storyteller who shares facts and stories about Sydney’s local Aboriginal culture, its languages and history.

Victoria

Sleep amongst Aussie wildlife in eco-friendly pods near the Great Ocean Road - Situated near one of the world’s most scenic coastal drives, the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, is Sky Pods, a new eco-friendly, self-contained luxurious accommodation offering. These picturesque solar-powered pods are situated in the middle of an off-grid wildlife refuge that allows travellers to get up close with some of Australia’s iconic animals including koalas, kangaroos and wallabies.

Northern Territory

Explore Uluru and Australia’s Red Centre on foot - Australia’s Red Centre in the Northern Territory is home to some of Australia’s most unique biomes - desert plains, weathered mountain ranges, rocky gorges and some of Aboriginal Australia’s most sacred sites. Experience the region’s untamed landscapes on the new Larapinta, Kings Canyon and Uluru trek. Walk along the sandstones of Kings Canyon, before finishing at the sacred site of Uluru. The trek is fully supported and boasts accommodation at exclusive eco-camps, creating the ultimate comfort throughout the trip.

Queensland

Discover the Great Barrier Reef’s new underwater museum - There is so much to learn about the world’s largest coral reef system, the Great Barrier Reef. The new Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA) in Townsville, North Queensland, consists of a series of installations by renowned underwater sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. The only underwater art museum in the Southern Hemisphere, MOUA is a beautiful and innovative blend of art, science, culture and conservation. MOUA redefines art by providing guests with a unique and thought-provoking encounter with the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, offering a platform to share the stories of the reef, and the culture of its First Nations people.

South Australia

Stay in the heart of sporting action at Adelaide Oval’s new boutique hotel - Situated on Adelaide Oval, South Australia’s picturesque sporting ground and home to Australian Football League (AFL) games, cricket matches, concerts, functions and more is the city’s new one-of-a-kind hotel, The Oval Hotel. Whether visitors are sports fans looking to be at the heart of the action, or want to be within walking distance of the vibrant city centre, this contemporary, boutique hotel promises an amazing experience whether staying in or going out.

Tasmania

Wander through Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park on a new walking tour - Australia’s impossibly beautiful island state, Tasmania, is a haven of untouched beauty, wildlife and nature. Travellers can experience its beauty on foot with a new guided day walk by Experiential Tasmania through Freycinet National Park on the island's east coast. The five-and-a-half hour Freycinet Walking Tour departs Freycinet Lodge, inside the park, and begins with a gentle 45-minute climb to the Wineglass Bay lookout, one of the most celebrated views in the Freycinet National Park.

Australian Capital Territory

Take an aerial tour of Canberra’s National Museum of Australia - Enjoy the best seat in the house to witness the beautiful scenery of Australia’s capital city, Canberra, from the sky. The National Museum of Australia is now offering the ultimate In, Above & Behind the Scenes experience which takes guests on a hot air balloon ride above Canberra, including an aerial tour of the Museum. Travellers will then explore the building, its architecture and rich history, before receiving a curator-led tour of the Museum and finishing off with a champagne breakfast at the Museum’s water-view cafe.

Western Australia

Climb the Matagarup Bridge over Perth’s Swan River - The Matagarup Bridge is more than just a pedestrian bridge. Its unique arched design and colourful lights at night make it an unmissable landmark over Perth’s Swan River. Perth’s latest attraction, the Matagarup Bridge Climb, now allows visitors to choose between a day, night or even a full moon climb, where they climb their way to the SkyView – an open air viewing platform.
