In relation to policies, the 39th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) decided to implement the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) to support the airline industry in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Thai Airlines has submitted the CORSIA Annual Emissions Report to ICAO. The Company has completed the 2023 CORSIA Annual Emission Report and submitted it for ICAO's approval and review.
In 2022, Thai Airways conducted 25,623 international flights eligible for offsetting requirements, generating a total of 3,316,814.8 tonnes of CO2 emissions, which translates to a reduction of 379,848.3 tonnes.
Additionally, the company has engaged with EU ETS requirements and submitted the carbon dioxide emissions report and carbon credits for CO2 into the European Emissions Trading Authority (ETS), a regulatory body, in March and April 2024, in accordance with the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) requirements.
