Procedures for Award Travel Changes due to Flight Cancellation and Impact of COVID-19 For Ticket Numbers Starting with 217 Only

The global spread of COVID-19 is closing national borders as countries around the world fight to contain the spread of this coronavirus. With plunging passenger demand and border closures many airlines are temporarily suspending operations.
In compliance with current border protection policies by the Royal THAI government, THAI and THAI Smile have also suspended all flights during 25 March – 31 May 2020.

Ticket issued before 25 March, for travel dates until 26 October 2020 and flights have been cancelled
-    Online channel for award changes, click here. The online channel is available for THAI and THAI Smile operated flights only. For flights operated by Star Alliance airlines, please contact THAI reservation staff.
-    Reservation changes and ticket cancellation must be done before the original travel dates and within ticket validity without fee.

Ticket cancellation and mileage re-credit

• Totally unused ticket

Select ‘Travel Voucher’ option in the dropdown list. Miles will be returned to Royal Orchid Plus accounts. Tax and surcharge will be returned as the form of a Travel voucher.


• Partially used ticket

Select ‘Partial Refund’ option in the dropdown list. Miles will be returned to Royal Orchid Plus accounts.

-    For Platinum / Gold Awards and Complimentary Upgrades with travel dates during this period, they can be rebooked until 15 December 2020 after ticket cancellation process has been done.
-    Any expired miles from re-credited awards can be used until 31 December 2020.

-    After the above four options have been processed, for rebooking, kindly allow until THAI flights resume operations.

* Mileage re-credit process may take up to 90 days due to high-volume demand. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
** For Early Bird Award Tickets, travel dates can be postponed until 15 December 2020 only. These promotional Award tickets cannot be done online.

Travel Commencing 24 January – 24 March // 01-30 June 2020 (flights normally operate)
-    Award tickets with travel dates within this period can postpone travel dates and extend ticket validity until 15 December 2020.
-    For travel in the same zone and class of service, a one-time rerouting is allowed.
-    Totally unused and valid Award tickets can be re-credited with reduced fees. Any expired miles will remain valid until 31 December 2020.

      • 2,000 THB / 65$ USD / 5,500 miles per ticket/traveler for regional routes
      • 3,000 THB / 100$ USD / 8,000 miles per ticket/ traveler for intercontinental routes

-    For rebooking, kindly allow until THAI flights resume operations.

-    Platinum / Gold Awards and Complimentary Upgrades used for travel dates during this period can be rebooked by 15 December 2020 after ticket cancellation process has been done.

Expiring miles extension

Members who have expired or expiring miles in any quarter of the year 2020, those miles are extended until 31 December 2021.

Validity extension for Platinum and Gold Awards 2020 and Complimentary Upgrades

For Platinum and Gold members who have not used the Complimentary Upgrades and Awards 2020 before expiry date of card status, currently these can be used up to 15 December 2020.
