THAI Partners with OR to Operate SAF Flight

On 13 December 2023, Mr. Chai Eamsiri, Chief Executive Officer, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), and Mr. Disathat Panyarachun, Chief Executive Officer, PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), presided the operation of flight utilizing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on the route Phuket-Bangkok. Mr. Taviroj Songkumpol, THAI Chief, Corporate Strategy, and Mr.Pongpun Amornvivat, Senior Executive Vice President, International Trading Business Unit, PTT Public Company Limited, Mr. Songpon Thepnumsommanus, Senior Executive Vice President, Energy Solutions Business, OR, THAI and OR senior management and guests witnessed the event at Phuket airport.  

THAI partnered with OR in implementing SAF on Phuket-Bangkok flight operation, which releases 80 percent less carbon dioxide than regular aviation fuel throughout its life cycle and is compatible in mixing with Jet A1 regular aviation fuel where no engine conversion is needed. This SAF flight is a promising starting-point to maintain environmental sustainability. THAI is committed to achieve the 2050 net zero emission goal domestically and internationally following the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the European Union, as well as to achieve the corporate objectives on sustainable growth through its forthcoming proactive measures.
